The Shallows is a 2016 American survival thriller film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, written by Anthony Jaswinski and starring Blake Lively. The film was released in the United States on June 24, 2016 by Columbia Pictures. The film received positive reviews and has grossed over $116 million against a $17 million budget, becoming a box office success.

This movie describes that Nancy's mother had just died and she is seeking method to get rid of the pain from her heart. Nancy is a student who study medicine and have interests on surfing. On her vacation, she found something that she has been looking for a long time. It is a secret beach, which has some special meanings for her mother. Although she knew that surfing alone was extremely dangerous, she decided to take a risk and discover this ‘beautiful’ beach. In the beginning, she felt good and dolphin swam with her. Then she found an injured dying whale and unfortunately, the blood made a great white shark come. The shark started to attack her. During she was blocked on a tiny island, there were three people died because of the shark. Nancy used a camera to record all the thing happened and threw away. Then she started to inspire all her powers such as her courage, intelligence, strategy and creativity to get over the environment and the dangerous great white shark.
